Grizzly Man
Thursday, September 11, 2008
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm heading off one more time: leaving this morning for a backpacking trip in the Desolation Wilderness in our grand old Sierras.
They say there are bears in them there hills. They say we must be very careful.
Well, to those "bears" I say this: be you koala, polar, or panda, I fear you not. (Okay, maybe a little.)
Back next week.

Say hello to Mr. Chocolate.
(Have you seen the original Grizzly Man documentary?)
Hey Stephanie--I said hi to Mr. Chocolate for you. He said he'd like to meet you sometime.
I loved Grizzly Man. My favorite Herzog film by far (though admittedly I haven't seen that many).
In truth, we saw some footprints, but no bears at all, which was fine with me. Desolation Wilderness is an amazing place. There's very little animal life at that altitude, and the granite shelves are so quiet and still it's eerie.
